Team McCain will unchain Sarah Palin and let her face the "piranhas."
Amid increasing criticism that the Alaska governor was being kept on a short leash while feeding off her crowd appeal, the McCain camp relented Sunday and said the veep nominee will have her first press interview at the end of the week with ABC News.
Since her nomination, the popular governor has attracted the large crowds that John McCain was never able to draw, and she is scheduled to continue pulling them in as the two stump this week.
Before the interview was announced, McCain senior adviser Rick Davis bristled at the criticism.
"Why would we want to throw Sarah Palin into a cycle of piranhas called the news media that have nothing better to ask questions about than her personal life and her children?" he said on "Fox News Sunday" Sunday.
